So this was going to be another great adventure, discovering new places and people, as well as visiting some friends from my last trip. The plan before I left the UK was to be in Rio de Janeiro for New Year then travel to other cities in Brazil to meet friends before heading back to Rio for carnaval. After that I would work my way through South America up to Colombia. After being in Rio a few days I remembered how much I love this country and its warm, generous people. One problem for me was communicating so to get over this I have decided to stay in Rio and study Portuguese. This is one of the reasons why my journal has been a little quiet so far - as well as the fact I have been enjoying myself too much to sit at a computer! I hope you enjoy the photos!

I will tell you all of my plans: I'll be in Brazil until 17th March when I fly to Buenos Aires. I'll then travel south in Argentina & over the Andes into Chile. On the 3rd of May I fly to New Zealand (losing 2 days!!!), 3rd August to Sydney for a week & finally a week in Tokyo. Unless things change - most of you know me well enough to know this is highly possible.
