As Bec sat washing 13 pairs of socks in a bucket in the backyard of a church in Kratie, Cambodia, she swore that the next trip we took would involve fewer people. And so the plan for this began to form. In fact since we began the work of Vic Park Rovers FC in 2003 we’ve wanted a chance to both learn how better to do football mission and to spend a longer period of time overseas. 2006 will provide us an opportunity to do that. The first three months will see us visit and work with a number of different sports ministries to see firsthand what they do and learn from them. The second three months we will return to Thailand where we have been twice before. This time however we will swap the very short, fun, high-impact work of the team tours for a longer stint of just the two of us working with missionaries based there. As departure draws nearer we grow more and more aware of how God has made it possible, sensible and almost necessary for us to go. We are praying that God will teach us and reveal things and Himself to us through this trip and that he will prepare our hearts and open our minds to the possibilities that await us.
