This is a journal of my time in Thailand.
My intention in going to Thailand is to assist some of those who are working to rebuild their lives in the wake of the tsunami of December 26, 2004.
But this is not my only objective.
I also hope that by sharing what I see and learn, our collective understanding of the people here, and their plight, will be deeper. Because their plight is not only to survive, but to maintain their way of life, their culture. And the organization through which I am volunteering, North Andaman Tsunami Relief, is sincerely committed to this objective.
I have many family members and friends who are supporting me financially, as well as emotionally, in this journey. I won't list their names here, but I want to acknowledge them and say this:
Thank you for trusting in me and for placing the needs of people who you will never know ahead of your own. Your generosity has overwhelmed me and brightened my hope for a better, more humane world.
Let my eyes be yours in this place, at this time...
