i'm generally not bold enough to get my camera up in somebody's face but as an observer, a recorder of my observations and one who is fascinated by people i've captured a few people. most of which, when asked, say 'no' to having their photo taken. some of whom believe that my taking a photo is capturing their soul. i have to agree. i have captured a piece of their soul, and i will nurture and love that part of their soul that i have captured. also candid shots are not akin to having a tripod and serious equipment present. low light and snapping away without even looking through the viewfinder, sometimes its pure luck to capture anything.
