Let the World Cup begin!!!

Text written in: English

Greetings from Deutschland! Arrived this morning using our expensive Lufthansa tickets, lol Lufthansa would have to be the best carrier we've ever flown though, which is depressing, as we'll probably never fly them again. Did sign up with Star Alliance Frequent Flyer through Singapore Airlines though, to get the points from today, so we'll try and stick to flying Thai,Singapore,Air NZ in the future when possible. Gotta keep Qantas on their toes:)

Saying goodbye to Paolo and his family last night was hard. Paolo`s mum Rosa-Maria really got on well with Leandro and is looking forward to his return to Italia, if she is still alive, as she put it, haha

Everything German is covered with 'World Cup' colours right now. You forget that this is bigger than the Olympics, lasting for a month. We were greeted by our Lufthansa aircraft this morning with its nose painted with a soccer ball. All Lufthansa planes have their noses painted with soccer balls at the moment, quite cool actually.

Everywhere we go we're greeted by soccer ball posters, soccer jerseys, flags, merchandise... This is all pretty exciting to the eye, especially seeing Australian flags included. Who would have ever thought??? The soccer fans are arriving slowly, saw Brazilians,English and Mexicans today, even heard a few Aussies:)

Germany is so different to Italia, calm, organised, clean, lol Will miss Italy though with all its chaos, you sort of become used to it after a while.

Tonight we went to a nice restaurant, the Hemingway Lounge, where we ate African cuisine, which we have never done before. Germany is much more multi-cultural than I realised, with the highest amount of Turkish people after Turkey itself. Even saw an Afro-German group singing in German on tv today, which freaked me a bit. I think there are a couple of German speaking African nations though, left over from the colonial past.

On Friday we have booked to do a tour of Heidelberg, which I'm looking forward to, as I grew up in Heidelberg in Melbourne, hehe And on Sunday will be the big game, Angola vs Portugal in Köln (Cologne). It will be mid to high 20s all week, which I know we should enjoy while we can before we return to Oz. It stays light here until 10pm! Ok, tüß!
