First day of school:)

Text written in: English

Got up bright and early, 6:30am, to get myself ready for the first day of Italian classes. Left at 8am, lost by 8:05, lol Someone moved the Arno River!!!, haha Got to the school in time though. Was greeted by lots of women; Aussie, British, Japanese. They made me sit both a written and oral test!!! omg! Written could only do half a page, guessed most of it, oral was ok. As with most languages, you can understand more than you can actually speak. I felt like Leandro's dad actually, but vice-versa with the languages:) Most of the other students were ok with the written though, but couldn't understand any of the questions asked in the oral. So at least I get language experience at home, whereas most Aussies just learn from a book.

Was greeted by my teacher Renata, where I soon realised I was the only student! One-on-one! Full immersion!!! Again, could understand most of what she said, but I had trouble responding. Got better through the day though. She can't speak English either, so talk about throwing me in at the deep end!hehe She does speak German though, so I threw in a few German phrases too to get me by, haha Well, you gotta do what ya gotta do!

Renata took me to the Mercato Centrale (Central Market) which we hadn't been to, which is great, as we were dying for good fruit to eat, at a nice price! I had to do an activity writing down all the food I could find, felt like I was back in Year 9 German class again, lol "Scusa, come si chiama questo?" How daggy, but was effective:) So, wonder what I'll have to do tomorrow???

I'm still looking more and more like an African each day, my face is soooooooo brown. So next time I say I don't tan, I'll have to re-phrase that to, "I don't tan in Australia". We went to the local toy store to buy Leandro's third cousin Sofia her Communion present, so we'll see how that goes. Lucky I teach primary kids, as Leandro had no clue! (Sorry Leand:)

And if I see another Italian wearing an All-Black New Zealand top! Italians are quite into rugby at the mo, so at least they're supporting a good team. Povera Italia!hehe

Finally we are continually updating photos so make sure you check previous entries!!

Ok, catch ya guys:)
