After hanging around for a week in Bondi Junction with Grace and Duncan, we decided to give them a break for a bit and head over the river to Manly, home to Cissi and Simon, and old friend of Kenny's who recently wed in Ireland. They are living in a gorgeous penthouse apartment with views of the ocean, I hope our dirty van parked out the front didn't bring down the tone of the neighborhood too much!
During our few days here, we did the obligatory drive to 'Summer Bay' and saw the surf club, unfortunately Alf Stewart wasn't around - I was very dissapointed. The beach itself is gorgeous, and is actually part of a National Park. We also took a fabulous 2 hour walk from Manly around the headland to The Spit, and had lunch in the 'R-ie' (The RSL, Retired Service Legion) - cheap drink surrounded by old people situated in a beautiful bay.
Today, we caught up finally with our buddies Dave and Suzie (hi guys!) whom we met in Thailand, and had a lazy day eating fish and chips on the beach in the sunshine. What a way to spend a Sunday. Bliss. I must apoligise now for making them miss the ferry back to Sydney after spending 10 minutes trying to convince them that the plastic bag in the harbour waters was actually a ray. Doh!
Tomorrow, desperation drives us down under, down-under. We'll be spending our last days in Sydney in the basement of a multi-storey carpark trying to sell our stupid van. Wish us luck. We'll be driving it off the pier otherwise .....
