Sight See-ers again

we woke up early this morning, ate the goodies at the breakfast buffet and then were out the door with a full day ahead of us. we walked over to La Rambla and watched some street performers. there was the obligatory Michael Jackson guy, one person juggling a soccer ball, a magician, and the people doing the still pose statue imitations. plus plenty of vendors of antiques and whatnots. very vibrant street. at the bottom near the harbor is the christobal colón statue commemorating his accomplishments for the Spanish Crown. we walked along the waterfront enjoing the cool sea breeze and admiring the myriad of boats. when we came across a metro, we rode it to this strange tower shaped like a bullet. its the latest addition to the city's skyline and it wasnt that impressive in the daylight. probably better when its lit up. after that we walked over to the Sagrada Familia which is an incomplete Church started in 1898 and designed by Antoni Gaudi. its the landmark building in Barcelona and its one of the most impressive and detailed structures ive ever seen.

it looks like a building out of Gotham and apparently, Gaudi intended for every aspect of the building to have some symbolic meaning. he did a good job achieving that until his early death in 1926 when he was hit by a streetcar. after that they commisioned other architects to try to follow what he started but there has risen much controversy over the direction of the design. regardless, its a beautiful place and was fun to hike all around and up it. ill cut it there and let the pictures do the talking.

tomorrow we head to madrid to see how the other cities get by.
