Day Trip

Text written in: English

Today we went out of the city by train to a small town called Gerona because we had heard good things and also we might have had time to go even further out to an even smaller town that is the location of the largest Salvador DalĂ collection in the world. but we didnt have time for that so we just spent the day in Gerona. The train ride out was slow and scenic. it took about 20 minutes to escape the subburbs of Barcelona and then we were finally seeing some countryside.

Gerona was actually quite nice but very small. it was divided into two parts by a stream of water struggling to be called a creek. the old city where all the sites were was on the far side so we took a good walk over there. before seeing anything, we stopped and dined at a paella restaurant and had beers. the waiter was cross-eyed and continually came over to tell us he messed up our order but in the end got it right. it was good but too much so we walked through the rest of the day with weight around our waists. we headed up into the old city and just enjoyed seeing the ancient structures. we went into a Jewish History museum that talked about the daily lives of the jews before they were either expelled or forcefully converted. but beyond that, there wasnt much to do in this town besides relax and enjoy the weather. we got back on the train in order to return in time for our laundry.

dinner was pasta and calamari. bedtime came early again.
