Lima

We arrived in Lima last night and unlike Quito it doesn´t feel intimidating at all. Our hotel is right in the centre and although it was late on a Sunday there was a real buzz about the place. We had a walk along the main plaza and all the historic buildings are lit and the shops, cinemas, casinos and hundreds of Chicken & Chips places had there doors open to the hustle and bustle of thousands of people having a wander just like us. We took some dinner back too our room and watched a movie, which is why I am up at 6.30 now and thought I catch up on some Internet stuff. We are planning to have a look at Lima and it´s subburbs in the next couple of days and maybe go to the horse races. More of that and photos soon.

Wir sind gestern Abend in Lima angekommen und im Gegensatz zu Quito fuehlt man sich hier nicht so eingeschuechtert. Unser Hotel ist mitten im Stadtcentrum und obwohl es spaet und Sonntag war, herrschte ein richtiger Rummel in der Stadt. Wir sind ein bischen die Hauptplaza entlanggeschlendert und die historische Gebaeude waren alle beleuchtet und die Geschaefte, Kinos, Casinos und hunderten von Chicken & Chips Restaurants hatten alle ihre Tueren auf um die tausenden Schlenderer zu begruessen. Wir haben uns dann etwas Abendessen mit aufs Zimmer genommen und einen Film gekuckt (wo man schon den Luxus eines Fernsehers hat...). Das ist allerdings der Grund, warum ich jetzt schon um halb 7 wach bin und die Zeit fuer etwas Internet nutze. In den naechsten paar Tagen haben wir vor uns Lima und die Vororte anzusehen und vielleicht zum Pferderennen zu fahren. Aber mehr davon (und Fotos) spaeter...
