Finally / Endlich

I am in Germany for a couple of weeks visiting my family before we set of on our trip. I can´t believe that I haven´t put an entry in in all this time. But for the last few weeks I have felt strangely calm. Although I have read on other peoples´ journals that you can lack excitement with a few weeks to go, I was getting a little worried last week. I suppose all the planning is done, your mind is prepared and got used to the idea and you are just waiting to go but it is still quite strange when you feel no nerves at all.
Yesterday however it occurred to us that we are on "next week" terms and people are asking things like "what time do you need to be at the airport next Friday?". It all seems real now! Strange to thing we will be in the Galapagos Islands in 8 days...
Our holiday in Germany has been really good. We have had lovely weather and did a few nice day trips to Berlin, Dresden and hiked up the Brocken mountain.
3 more days in Germany, 3 in England and off we go!!!

Ich bin gerade fuer 2 Wochen in Deutschland um meine Familie vor unserer Reise zu besuchen. Ich kann gar nicht glauben, wie lange ich nicht mehr geschrieben habe, aber ich habe mich die letzten paar Wochen richtig ruhig und gelassen gefuehlt. Obwohl ich von anderen Leuten gelesen habe, dass man in den letzten paar Wochen kaum aufgeregt ist, habe ich mir letzte Woche doch Sorgen gemacht. Ich nehme an, weil all die Planerei erledigt ist und du dich an den Gedanken gewoehnt hast, bist du einfach nur in Abwartungshaltung aber komisch ist es doch, wenn man so gar keine Aufregung verspuert. Aber gestern ist mir bewusst geworden, dass wir von "naechster Woche" reden und uns Fragen wie "wann muesst ihr Freitag beim Flughafen sein?" gestellt werden. Jetzt wirds doch ernst! Komisch zu denken, dass wir in 8 Tagen auf den Galapagos Inseln sind.
Unser Urlaub hier in Deutschland war echt schoen. Wir hatten gutes Wetter und haben ein paar tolle Tagesausfluege nach Berlin, dresden und auf den Brocken gemacht.
Noch 3 Tage in Deutschland, 3 in England und dann gehts los!!
