Similan Islands

We decided to go onto the dive boat and ended up staying for 4 days, longer than we had planned. It was great through. We must have spent around 5-6 hours in the water everyday and the rest of the time we were spoilt with brilliant thai food and just relaxed. We saw too many things to mention: sharks, barracudas, handfed tutles, moray eels and so on. Everytime was different, as we moved around these beautiful islands. We even joined the divers on a night dive, which was great. Obviously not normally any good to snorkellers, but we follwed the torches of the divers and ended up watching some reef sharks scaring a school of fishes.
Back in Phuket things were noticeably busier, even after just 4 days. It's really good to see tourists coming back. One more day trip took us to James Bond Island and Phang Nga bay, a bay filled with pinnacle islands, one of which was the scene or a Bond movie. We also went kayaking, although true to Thai traditions we had someone do the paddling for us. They won't let you do anything for yourself here! We had lunch at a loating muslim village. This day trip normally attracts thousands of people every day, and it was sad to see all the empty chairs in the dining hall.
Having spent so much time here, we headed straight to Bangkok from here, and will fondly remember our 2 weeks here.

Wir entschlossen uns zurueck auf das Tauchboot zu gehen und verbrachten 4 Tage dort, laenger als geplant. Es war toll. Wir muessen taeglich so an die 5-6 Stunden im Wasser vebracht haben und haben uns den Rest der Zeit mit lecker thailaendischem Essen verwoehnen lassen und einfach gefaulenzt. Wir haben so viel gesehen, dass ich gar nicht alles aufzaehlen kann: Haie, Barracudas, Moraenen usw. Wir haben sogar Schildkroeten handgefuettert. Jeder Ort war anders, waehrend wir von Insel zu Insel gefahren sind. Wir habe die Taucher sogar einmal beim Nachttauchen begleitet, was unerwartet toll war. Normalerweise ist da fuer Schnorcheler natuerlich zwecklos, aber wir sind den Lampen der Taucher gefolgt und haben einen Riffhai beobachtet, der den klinen Fischn Angst gemacht hat.
Als wir wieder in Phuket waren, war es deutlich voller, selbst nach nur 4 Tagen. Es ist schoen zu sehen, dass die Touristen wieder kommen. Ein letzter Ausflug fuehrte uns zur James Bond Insel in der Phang Nga Bucht, eine Bucht voller Inseltuerme, von denen eine als Drehort fuer einen James Bond Film diente. Wir sind dort auch kayaking gewesn, aber wie das hier in Thailand so ist, lassen sie einen nicht selbst tun, und wir hatten jemanden, der uns rumgepaddelt hat. Zum Mittagessen haben wir ein islamisches Fischerdorf auf Stelzen besucht. Dieser Auslug lockt normalerweise tausende an, und es war traurig die vielen leeren Plaetze in dem Restaurant zu sehen. Nachdem wir nun so viel Zeit hier verbracht haben, sind wir auf direktem Weg nach Bangkok weiter, und werden uns lange an die 2 Wochen hier erinnern.
