Canberra, capital city of Australia. After Melbourne it seems tiny and the town centre is really dead, which is quite funny, but we did something we hardly ever do, visit some museums, and they were really good and made the visit worthwhile. The first stop was the huge and amazing Australian War Memorial. To be honest, I am not very patient in museums where you have to read a lot (much to Wilf's discontent) but there was a really great guided tour, which made it all far more interesting. In fact, it was so good in there, we came out a whole 4 hours later. Next stop Parliament House. Not just architechurally a gem, but again a really interesting guided tour and a great approach to make the parliament so public and give free access at any time. We finished our day's sightseeing on top of the Telstra Tower overlooking the city. Only a brief visit, but worthwhile.

Canberra, Hauptstadt Australiens. Nach melbourne kommt es einem hier echt winzig vor und das Stadtzentrum ist auch sowas von tot, es ist witzig. Aber wir haben hier mal etwas getan, was wir selten tun, und ein paar Museen besucht, und die waren auch so gut, dass sich der Besuch gelohnt hat. Als erstes haben wir das Australische Kriegsdenkmal besucht. Wenn ich mal ehrlich bin, muss ich sagen, dass ich (sehr zu Wilf's Unzufriedenheit),ungeduldig werde, wenn ich irgendwo viel lesen muss, aber es gab eine total gute Fuehrung, die alles viel interessanter gemacht hat. So gut sogar, dass wir 4 Stunden dort verbracht haben. Naechster Anlaufpunkt war das Regierungsgebaeude. Nicht nur eine Perle der Architektur, sondern auch wieder eine tolle Fuehrung und eine tolle Einstellung, das Parlament Tag und Nacht fuer die Oeffentlichkeit zu oeffnen. Wir haben unseren Sightseeing Tag auf dem Telstra Tower beended, von wo man die ganze Stadt sehen konnte. Es war nur ein Kurzbesuch, aber er hat sich gelohnt.
