...at least it used to be. i arrived here today after 21 hours on three different buses,that makes more than 150 hours of busrides since my departure from quito.

potosi is, or better was, famous for the biggest silver mine in the world. therefore it was exploited for almost 500 years. what we europeans don't know, is that about eight million slaves died, working to death for the european need for silver. at least i had no clue and never heard anything about that. a link:
