The highest Capital of the World!

Text written in: English

we made it to la paz! of course the ride went not as planned, we left later and arrived later but meanwhile that's just normal.

the bus was good, they showed "men in black", although restarted twice after twenty minutes by the dvd player, it was much better then "rocky four" on our way to arequipa. the hot drinks promised by ormeƱos, the bus company, turned out to be water, hot water. the seat numbers were given out two times, the korean woman sitting on my seat, was a bit frightened when we showed her our tickets but we found other seats and left her alone. the bordercrossing was the strangest till now, a police guy took me into his office and asked me for drugs, he checked my wallet and went through my personal stuff. he found nothing of interest and let me go, the feeling was bad anyway.

la paz is beautiful and bolivia seems to be much more friendly and welcoming then i expected from the reports of other travellers. what i like about la paz:

  • there is nothing much to do here! being lazy is legitime.
  • the blue sky
  • "dumbos" for cakes
  • the witch market
  • the scenery in the middle of the mountains

so far there is nothing i don't like.

tomorrow we do a mountainbiketour - 62 kilometers, from 4.700 meters to 1.200, downhill on the "most dangerous road of the world". i hope mom reads this after i am back on wednesday night.

on thursday we are off to the jungle, not by bus, by plane! spiders, here we come!
