90 mile beach in the rain

It wasn't such a brilliant idea after all to get up at 6am just to drive up to Kaitaia where we went on a bus tour up to the Cape Reinga. The tour goes on the 90miles beach up to the huge sand dunes where you can go sand boarding and then to the lighthouse at the Cape and back to Kaitaia. It takes the whole day - this is probably a great trip when the weather is fine.... Just that it wasn't when we went. A 90miles beach is not very spectacular if you can only see a few hundred meters.... Sand boarding in the rain well... and a lighthouse with absolutely no view around it.... They should simply cancel that trip if the weather is bad!

 

 

Die Idee um 6 uhr morgens aufzustehen und nach Kaitaia zu fahren um von hier aus eine Bustour zum Cape Reinga zu machen war gar nicht so gut... Man fährt mit dem Bus den 90Meilen Strand hinauf bis zu riesigen Sanddünen dort kann man dann „schlittenfahren auf Sand statt Schnee" dann geht es weiter bis zum nördlichsten Punkt Neuseelands zum Leuchtturm am Cape Reinga - wahrscheinlich eine super Ausflug wenn das Wetter gut ist. Leider hat man nicht viel von einem 90Meilen Strand wenn man nur ein paar Meter weit sieht - Sandboarden im Regen hat auch nicht so viel Reiz und ein Leuchtturm ganz ohne Aussicht drumrum... Sie sollten diese Tour bei so schlechtem Wetter wirklich absagen.
