Life's a beach!

Text written in: English

Sara and I wanted a bit of an adventure so escaped the Hong Kong humiditity and took a week long trip to Boracay.. It's a small island in the Philippines (there are over 7,000 islands!) and was a bit of a mission to get to, but well worth the taxi, train, plane, jeepney, second plane, motorbike, boat and a lot of walking to get there!

Beautiful beaches and wonderful weather awaited us. It was a bit of a culture shock to say the least, but you soon get used to travelling around in motorbikes with sidecars. I think the boys would like it because a beer was 30 peseos! (100 to the pound). The locals were as friendly as you could imagine, and stared a lot at Sara as I think she was just about the only blonde girl on the island. We should have kite surfed, sailed, gone diving, climbed the local mountains etc... but insted we just laid around on the beach, ate cheap food, drank cheap booze and chilled out! I did manage to buy fresh fish from the local market and have a big BBQ but that was about enough adventure for one holiday.

If you get the chance GO THERE! But I must admit it's a bit off the normal tourist map.. It's getting busier now and some of the large hotel chains are getting sus to the place and have bought some land, but so worth the trip.

Ps. The "say JESUS" thing might need explaining... There were some american god squadders there.... you know "brother martha, sister william" trying to convert the locals... when they had their photo taken it was jesus not cheese!
