Ben & Sull's Indo Surf trip

My friend Ben Ellis had been travelling around the globe on a surfing safari.. He was on his way from South Africa and had planned to stop by and see me before we both went on to Bali in Indonesia to get some of those legendary waves!

We had a great few days in Hong Kong and were joined by another friend of mine John Mew, who was stopping in before going on to base camp Everest in Tibet! We went to the races and out eating and drinking together and had a bit of boys bonding time before hitting the airport for Baha!

Ben and I packed up our boards and baordies and headed off. We hopped on a direct flight from HK to Denpasar, and got caught inthe worst electrical storm I have ever experienced... At one point, shortly after being hit by lightening for the second or third time, we loked at each other and just said "god I hope I get out of this thing alive!" When we landed (Q relief) we hopped in a cab to Legian, to a hotel called the Melasti Beach resort... Hopped in the ocean and away we went.

A mad week of surfing, surfing and more surfing ensued. We ate at the Indo-National restaurant EVERY NIGHT! And met up with Mad Mike and Wayno the Ozzy surf crew... I Had my birthday on the island and we went clubbing in Kuta. I caught the best wave of my life on Mushroom lefts, and hit coral at Nusa Dua... What a fantastic experience!
