Well. Queenstown has been awesome. The first town with a population above 3 that we've reached since Wellington, and what a place it is. Its in a quality setting, with huge hills/mountains surrounding, and next to a chuff off lake. The rivers here are bright blue too, its gorgeous. And, bonus, theres no sandflies! Hurray!
We've had a lazy time in queenstown, the weathers been gorgeous, so when we've not had any activities planned we've just been sat on the green/park, whatever you want to call it, next to the lake, watching kids ride of piers on bikes into the lake, which is amusing! When we've not been maxing and relaxing however, we've had loads to do, the only thing stopping us from doing everything being the money unfortunately!
The first thing we did was the shotover jet - this involved bezzings it down a bright blue river in this huge canyon in a jet boat, James Bond style. Not only this but the driver aims/skids about 3cm from the canyon walls, it was so ace, and then did 360 degree turns (a Hamilton turn to those experts (like me) out there!). It really was so much fun, we got so wet!
Then the big day (for me!) came - I decided (against any decisions id made previously!) to do the Nevis Highwire bungee - 134m drop from a gondala suspended above a huge gorge/canyon thing. It was as scary as it sounds. We were all harnessed in, and after a long wait, and after watching the others do it and survive, i was strapped in, and had to shuffle to the platform......imagine looking down and seeing a tiny river 134m below, and having to jump - 5-4-3-2- arrrghhhhh - apparently i screamed the loudest! But it was amazing, such a weird sensation free falling for 9 seconds! I would recommend it to anyone, however terrified you are - I did it and suffer from vertigo!
After a couple of nights out and a lazy day in between, we finished off with luging - this was quality. We got the gondala lift up to the luge track, and after a go on the scenic track bezzed it down the track - Doug managed to have a collision and fall out after taking a bend too quickly! Was ace cos we got a few runs, so it wasnt a rip off, and its so addictive!
So that was my time in Queenstown, it was brilliant, and an ace palce to visit, I reckon I'll be back! And if youre short of money and going, theres no problem of getting some bar work there, there were adverts everywhere!
