Colonia-l Town Cobbled Together

Text written in: English

After a quick restbite in Montevideo they were on the road again to the small port town of Colonia. Now Tim had convinced Ben not to take money out in Montevideo, but to wait to find out the cost of boat tickets in Colonia. On arrival in Colonia both smelt the air of McEwan odourously lurking like overused lavatory. First they were sent to the port where they were told they could not depart for four hours and that they could not leave their luggage there. Back to the bus station where despite an abundance of space behind the counter, the spuriously named "left luggage" service refused to take thier bags. To make matters worse Tim's money extracting theories seemed totally mistaken. The cash point in the station only took local cards. On further enquiry they were told that there were no international banks in Colonia. At last McEwan had won. He had trapped them in a port town, that didnt even have a shopping mall! Ben went into a panic throwing his bags to the floor followed by his trousers screaming Guanju!!!

Tim suggested that he search for a bank regardless of the advice. There was little choice, so Ben waited with tears running down his cheeks. Duiring his wait a small child came up to him and asked him if he was ok in spanish. What a kind child, what a beautiful chil...what a bitch she started hitting him with her plastic doll and her parents came over shooting an "are you a peodophile?" death stare. It was more than Ben could cope with, but just as the proverbial gun was raised to his temples, Tim came with a coca cola bottle in hand. That mean one thing he had taken out money. Ben was elated and would have hugged Tim, had it not been for all the homosexual films they had seen together lately. Tim then headed to the port to buy the tickets, which he did in a record longest time. But there it was their ticket out. Take that McEwan, with your smug realist novels...or should i say novellas...ha!

Things looked bright as did the afternoon they spent exploring the incredibly beautiful town. It was so beautiful that neither would have in fact minded staying there a night to soak up the laid back atmosphere, but the call of Evita Peron was too strong. With the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical on loop on Ben's I-pod they borded their vessel to Argentina
