Cast your memory back dear readers to our travelling friends' trip to Georgetown in Malaysia. It was a town that promised so much but delivered so little. Welcome to Florianopolis...

After an extremely comfortable stalker free bus ride they arrived in the morning sun and headed Praia de Ingles. The apartment they had rented was cramped but reasonably priced. It however also housed insects that did as much damage to Tim as the ones that Ben battled on the Chiang Mai train.

Before we sympathise with Tim too much, let me point out that Ben is in fact cursed, or to give it its medical name ‘beachally challenged.' The entire morning was spent sorting running errands, eating lunch and using the internet - all in glorious sunshine. Even on the walk to buy his beach towel the sun beated down on his white skin. However as soon as the purchase was made and he stepped out of the shop the clouds stole the sun and his chances of improving his tan and would not return them for the length of his stay.

For those that don't know, Florianopolis is a beach resort, and there is not much else to do on a beach resort apart from go to the beach. The two made the best of it buy playing pool, using the gym and eating Brazilian fruits: Açai and Acerola among the favourites. In search for sunnier climbs they headed for the north. Belem here they come.
