Back in Quilon

Hey Mom and Dad,
Good again to hear from you, I am still loving India but i think the
isolation has definatly begun to set in. It is strange how you can be
surrounded by people all the time yet feel so seperated. I am in a very small
town and am probabaly the only white guy with in 50 kms, for this reason
everyone stares even more then usual. Not to worry thou I have been keeping
myself busy and still have a lot of go left in me. This is good because since
I have begun teaching "go" is what I deffinatley need. I started the first
day of school by meeting the principal in which he imediatly placed me in
front of the entire school and told me to give a 5 minute speech about where
I am from. After that he said I have 5 45minute english classes to teach,
after which he promptly threw me into a class of 20-30 kids and essentially
said "teach". Since that time I have worked my way down to only 3 classes and
am having an easier time. I did contact Gap but much as I expected their
responce was something to the extent of "Good Luck". No worrys thou, I am
coping and am slowly making progress. Everyone at the school means well but
has trouble grasping just how unexperianced I am. That is the bad news,
unfortuneatly other then that not a whole lot has been going on, I have been
teaching everyday, and am still playing soccer everyday and still enjoying
the food. This weekend I intend to blow off all the steam from this past week
so I am heading down to trivundrum to chill out on the world famous beaches
for 2 days. Not a whole lot more, after my trip I will drop you a line and
let you know how it went. I feel completely intrigated with the culture now
thou and even the complexities of travelling in India seem less. Will talk to
you all soon.
