¡earthquake!

we{re into dramatic welcomes to cities. this time, an earthquake! first one felt here in 5 or 10 years (depended on who you asked). either way, so bizarre! this was my first quake so I had no idea what was going on. the epicenter was HUGE: 7.5, but we were far away so in Iquitos, mild. just shaking ground, signs swinging. still.....holy crap!

spring festival was going on so we drank beers and watch fireworks with marco - he works for the lodge and was babysitting us (for the free beer, we think). also ran into our israeli and south american amigos we met on the plain.

tomorrow we take el boata into the jungle....and so it begins. a long time to get here, it feels so right.
