it's not like me to call a place a shit hole, but this is one (sorry mom, but that's the best I can come up with!). a nothing of a town, reminded me of the smallest of the small towns in iowa. especially coming from el chalten - talk about culture shock. to make it more of a nothing-ness, the whole town is on siesta (I have yet to get used to these siestas...). I have to wait 4 hours for the bus station to re-open only to learn that there are no buses to buenos aires until monday. god help me I'm not staying here...do some fast thinking....puerto madryn... I think that's the city half way between here and there. I'll take it! (confirmed later in lonely planet, yup, I bought the right ticket. whew.)

guess I'm going to see the seal lions and penguins afterall (the highlight of peurto madryn). not a bad thing and for SURE better than staying in this wind-blown, sun-scorched river rat of a brown town, even if I have to wait another 6 hours for the bus...get me an empanada, where's the internet. nuthin else to do 'round here....

bleh. get me on that friggin bus!
