"give him the keys and then use the credit card to zap off on a jet to some place like miami and rent another huge fireapple red convertable for a top-speed run across the water all the way out to the last stop in key west and then trade the car off for a boat. keep moving.
- fear and loathing in las vegas
(those who can't do......read)
pucon, what a bust - guess all cities can't knock your socks off. the first day was beautiful & sunny, volcan villarica was stunning! still snow covered, a cap of clouds just at the top, surround by forrest (so nice to see trees again, finally!!), BUT I had bus-lag (like jet-lag but from a bus) and had to sleep that afternoon. what a dolt I was as the next two days were nothing but rain. by day 2 I went stir crazy and had to run. the rain was coming down so hard I could drink water from the air. I was soaked, the hostel owners thought I was nuts, but I was happy and tired so nothing else mattered.
and the first night I got to have beers with jan and roderick - the dutchies from way back in cusco. we overlapped for one night and to celebrate, we drank way too much. I also paid way to much ($2 for a beer??! outrageous!), but we caught up on our good and bad moments in the past 2 months. everyone had sucky christmases - they were puking from food poisoning though. blechk.
my whole point of visiting pucon was to hike the volcano but the rain put a stop to that. meanwhile; I heard back from bio bio expeditions, a rafting company on the futalafu (thanks brendan and frank for the hook up!), they have a 9 day trip somewhat in my budget. so I'm headed to south chile by way of bariloche argentina to try to hop into a tour. I have 3 days to travel 300 km with 6-7 bus connections. in peru, this would be impossible. here, I just might make it...
