The trip to Khon Kaen was a bit of a mission! 12 hours on a bus with a space not big enough for my legs! We stopped a couple of times to let people off and others on. I have no idea how they regulate the number of people on the bus as they all seem to have tickets and get a seat. We stopped at this service station and ate for 25 pence, I think British Service Stations have a lot to learn! By the end I was glad to be able to get off.
Khon Kaen is not like any of the other places that we have visited in Thailand. There doesnt still to be any other westerners in sight, there are no blazing neon signs advertising everything in English and the people seem suprised that we are there altogether. It's great, it's like being back in India again! It does mean that it takes longer to find things out and actually locate places but this is what travelling is all about.
We only spent a night and a day in Khon Kaen and the extent of actually seeing anything was a trip to the bus station to organise transport out, wandering around the city and then sitting by the local pond (At a 100 hectres I think it could be classed as a lake?)
Well that was Khon Kaen, exciting wasn't it!
