Winner Of The Worst Capital City Award Goes Too...

We decided that we would spend some time in Colombo, the capital city, before flying out.  All I will say is that Colombo has got to be one of the worst capital cities I have been too.  It's just so dull!!  There doesn't seem to be anything of historical interest, trying to find a cafe/restaurant to have anything to eat or drink seems impossible and it's full of smog!

Sending a parcel home took nearly two hours to sort out.  We were taken to three different post offices before we were able to find one that dealt with international packages and then we had to hunt round to find materials to make up the package.   We decided that we would go to the Pettah area of the city, as this was where all the art and crafts were made.  Pettah is a stinking hell hole that seems to have all its goods shipped in from ‘Shite R Us.'  We hastily made our way to the commercial Fort area and all we could find there were banks.  There seems to be more banks in Sri Lanka then there are people.  We wandered down a wrong street into a High Security Zone and were approached by a soldier who made us turn round and walk out again, oops!  The end of the day was a bit more promising as we found this government craft place that sold some really good bits and bobs.  We also found this great fish restaurant in the middle of nowhere and luckily that brought our day to an end.  Least we are leaving this God forsaken place today!
