Living at the "Mount" now

So I can't quit remember when the last time I wrote was.  Anyways, sorry if I repeat stuff, but I'm living at Mount Maunganui now, at the backpackers, which is right dowtown!  I paid for the week here- $110.  It's literally right across from the Stars and Stripes cafe.  I've been working about 4-5 hours at the Stars and Stripes a day, and Thursday, Friday, Sat. at the Grumpy Mole bar, usually 10-330am or so. Today I work split shifts at the S &S, 12-2, then 5-close I think, which kinda sucks, but since I'm so close it's no big deal.  It's been nice weather yesterday and today. Yesterday went out to the beach with some friends from the hostel, threw the frisbee and such.  The swell (height of the waves) is crap now, so we're waiting for it to come back.  And I just bought a wetsuit 2 days ago!!  I tried it out , works fine, but there's a tear in it already!  It must've been like that when I bought it and I just didn't realize it.  Anyway, it's under warranty, so I have to send it back, which sucks b/c that will take 6 business days, which is time not learning to surf.  I'm trying to decide what kinda of board I want to get.  I tried out a guy's from the hostel, it was about 7', which was way too short for me.  couldn't get up at all.  I'd really like to buy a board, but they're so frickin' expensive, like $700 for a new one!!  So- I either buy a car or a surfboard.  I'm hoping I can get lucky and find a decent second hand board. that would be awesome.  The other Andrew who was suppose to live w/ Manuel and i in the apt. backed out, so we're looking for someone else to go in with us. The other place which is on OceanBeach road with 2 rooms avaialable is still a possibility, but it's more expensive, so I'm hoping for the other place that's next to the golf course.  I'm uploading some pictures now, so I think you should be able to see them.  Sorry i didn't write any captions yet, only have 2 minutes left on internet.  I worked 30 min. in the hostel, just mopping floor for internet, so hopefully I can keep doing little jobs like that around here for internet time, not a bad deal.  Alright, take it easy everyone reading!  by the way, if someone wants to read this journal and isn't on the email list, there should be a link on the front page of ball of dirt under my name that you can give them.  later.

This is taken from Mount Maunganui, the beach below goes for miles down the coast. You can walk out on the island you see in the background. A lamb bahhhing at me. The view from the top of the Mount. Pic needs to be rotated, but there's several paragliders that are just floating around at the top of the Mount. Really neat to watch. You can also see how far the beach goes figured I should get a picture of all the stuff at the mount: paragliders, sheep, and mountain, pretty sweet as!
