So I'm i nTauranga now, bee nhere since Thursday. I walked all over the town Thursday dropping my name and resume to cafes and bars. One of the last bars I went into said they had a position, and I started on Friday night, doing bartending work. It wasn't very busy on Friday night, but last night, it was packed! Didn't stop serving drinks the whole night! I've never done any kind of work like this before, so it takes some getting used to. First off, I don't know all the drinks yet; they have different beers here, and different nicknames for them, for example, a "red" is a Lion Red, and a "woody" is a Woodstock. Just little things like this are kind of embarassing not to know the first time. And the liquors/mixed drinks, getting used to those too. The place is called the Grumpy Mole- there's 6 of them in NZ. A big night club, western style- everythings wood- big worn wooden seats, the bar, everything. I guess there are about 500-600 people on busy nights in the summer. I think I'll only work Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights until it gets busier in the summer. Meanwhile, I need to find another job during the day. I applied at many cafes here in Tauranga, and across the bay at Mt. Mauganui as well. The "Mount" as they call it is much nicer than Tauranga. Tauranga is where the night life is at, but the Mount has beach, and a neat little mountain at the edge of the peninsula. Gotta run now, looking forflat at mount.
