finally...sunshine

As the title says, I have finally hit a day where the sun is shining! Although, its bloody cold (max 8 deg).
I'm in Kilkenny which is a medieval town just north of Waterford, where I was yesterday.
Spent my first night away from Dublin in a little town called Wexford, staying in a 200 year old house in a room with a four poster bed. Very nice, although the price was nice too, 40 euros ($68) for the pleasure. Had a superb meal in this tiny little French restaraunt overlooking the bay.
Yesterday, I drove to Waterford, home of Waterford crystal, and because the weather was so yuk, decided to do the tour of the factory (it was indoors). In was fascinating, and yes I did part with some cash in the shop at the end (gulp!). Just had to buy some port glasses (gorgeous), although I could only afford 2!
Arrived in Kilkenny last night amidst gusting winds (you've probably heard on the news 'bout the winds as they have knocked down powerlines all over the country and disrupted flights in and out of the airports) and hail. After driving round this tiny town for an hour (kept getting lost - all those one way streets!) I finally found the Youth Hostel. It was lovely, clean and warm and cheap too. As this is the quiet season, I got a dorm to myself. It seems only boys are travelling by themselves at the moment and couples. Not too many single females.
Off to do a walking tour of Kilkenny this morning, followed by a quick tour of the castle and then the longish drive to Cork where I'll spend a couple of days as there is lots to see and do in the surrounding areas.
