Vietnam by moonlight

Before I left Nha Trang I ran into the brits Al and Mary who had arrived in town a day later than I did. We hung out, walked along the beach, had a few beers at the flash sailing club, looked at syringes left behind in a scungy building site thing and got our hair cut. Then when they went for a run I watched the sun set on the beach while I read my book and we all went out for dinner to have Italian, then to a crazy bar called Crazy Mary's or something (she runs a big campaign against paedophiles and kids there) and had some 2-4-1 cocktails and played pool. Then it was time to catch my bus.

I arrived in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) this morning at 6am. Was nice seeing the countryside by moonlight and when we stopped at Mui Ne, a beach town and I saw martian landscapes floating past the window I jumped off in the hope to stay, even though I'd paid to go all the way to Saigon. The bungalows we stopped at had no room (which was a shame because it might've been my fave place so far) so I reluctantly jumped back on the bus and listened to my music until we stopped 5 minutes around the corner at a Vietnamese truck-stop thing so the driver could eat. This took nearly an hour while we waited and I've had no sleep but I have to wait for a room in an hour. I dont' plan to be here for long - long enough to see the Cu Chi Tunnels and perhaps a Mekong Delta tour before heading over the border into the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh.
