I stayed in Fawlty Towers when I first came to Rome, at the tender age of about 18 - and back then I didn't have much money but I quickly got cosy over the weeks I stayed there with the people who ran it, and we used to go out for meals together, I learnt Italian, and they looked after me.  Even though I was about as broke as you can be, there was an atmosphere of amusement, chilling and chatting that's still there when you visit.  We used to watch the antics of an Italian casa nova, who literally had about eight girlfriends.  One day he declared "the next girl who walks in the door is going to fall in love with me, and I will too" - and it was so....

Now of course, those people have moved on, but the place has a nice spacious balcony, a kitchen and free internet.  It's not unusual to find people having a wine on the balcony and chatting in the evening before heading out to check out Rome.

Prices are on their website, and you can see availability and book there too (with a confirmed booking).
