From Brisbane to Hervey Bay

Text written in: English

We took a rather uneventful bus ride up to Hervey Bay. The scenery is kind of like Fred Flintstone scenery. The same thing over and over. It is kind of sparse with tropical vegetation.

We were picked up by a courtesy shuttle from our hostel. The hostel is more like a grouping of cabins and is for families or older travellers. It's not a real hostel.

Our room here was much bigger. It held 4 people and it had an ensuite bathroom. A real luxury for us.

When we checked in we realized that they had made an error with our booking. They had booked us in for two straight nights instead of one before and after the Fraser Island trip. Then we were informed that they didn't have us booked for our Fraser Island Trip. They upgraded our room for the return of the trip and booked us on our tour.

We didn't do much in Hervey Bay, there really isn't much there. It's just a jumping off place for Fraser Island.

The next morning we were up nice and early for the bus to the ferry. When it arrived we weren't on the list for the tour. We showed the guide our receipt that said we had paid for it, but that didn't do anything. Then he noticed the FREE brochure Patrick had picked up by the reception desk. The guide asked us if we had received tht brochure when we booked our trip. We said yes and he let us on the bus. Who knew - all you need to get on a tour in Australia is the free brochure!!!
