Chile is a very long country. A massive drive on the Panamerican Highway south from the coast and into the hills, past crystal lakes, and over flowing rivers, we are at the entrance to the mountain. Its a modern tourist village, reminisant of a ski village such as Whistler, with plenty to see and do. Spent a day exploring the national parks, enjoying waterfalls, the bluest pools, lakes and hot springs. Sunday was the most amazing day, when I climbed Villarrica Volcano. 2847 metres, starting with a dodgy chair lift, an hour over dusty rocks, then another 2 hours up the glacier using helmets, ice picks and crampons. The view from the top was amazing, both of the surrounding peaks and of the active crater just below. This is an experience Í will never forget.
