We arrived in Guangzhou after a few more rounds of cards with the boys, and on first impressions I am quite glad we arent planning to spend any time here. As the train rolled through the suburbs, it just looked like a pretty minging industrial town, contrary to what the guidebook says about the place.
It was a good job we had the Canadians to help us as the train station was pure carnage, with hundreds of people milling about and cutting you up left right and centre. Luckily enough, they had made this trip many times and knew exactly where the taxi rank was and how to ask for the bus station in chinese. Turns out it was only round the corner anyhow. We had no problems getting bus tickets to Hong Kong within the hour and we literally ate the time up with a trip to McD's where we had our photo taken with Ronald and saw a shop called Wanko.
Ackroyd stinks of sweat!!!!! Although, in reflection i was not too much better.
