I awoke from a really uncomfortable and freezing cold nights sleep in my tent pretty early because i thought i was getting frost bite in my toes! This is most probably the thinnest tent in the world. Not exactly ideal when the temperature outside is sub-zero. The one highlight of the night being the dream i had about Cathy and Claudia. Thank you girls!!!
As we drove the final 100km to Saikhan Owoo, the landscape noticably changed from mountains and hills to flat steppe or grasslands. It also seemed to get quite a bit drier, which would make sense since we are heading towards the Gobi desert. The landscape now resembles a very badly laid shingle driveway with copious amounts of grass and weeds poking their heads through!
When we arrived at the ger camp for the night, we were scheduled to go horse riding about 10km away. But...on the way there, the bloody car broke down. Turns out the rear axle wasnt driving properly or something like that (I dont know anything about cars, so i dont know any technical terms for you car boffins....Ed). It took us a good hour to coax the car the 10km back to the ger camp, which was quite annoying. From here on, we can only use front wheel drive, which could turn out to be a bit of a pain in the arse beacuse some of the terrain is quite steep.
It was a good job the ger camp had a pool table and table tennis, otherwise i think i would have been driven mad with boredom! I absolutely annihalated some Mongolian guys at pool, got whipped by my guide at table tennis and then got an early nights kip in my ger complete with mini bar and fan ( so happy).
