Tian'anmen Square and the Snore-a-tron

Text written in: English

I had the pleasure of waking up with a hangover squeezed inbetween a wall and ackroyd this morning, as i didnt make it back to my hostel last night and ackroyd couldnt be bothered to climb the stairs to his bunk. Not that i am complaining, this isnt even my hostel! Very amusing when ackroyd managed to wake himself up by shouting his own name...he is even weirder than i remembered.

Well, not surprisingly, we didnt do much today as we all felt pretty goddamn rough.  We did however, make it to Tian'anmen Square, which was quite interesting to see just based on its history, but if you dont know anything about the history of the place it is just basically 40,000 square metres of concrete with a monument in the middle, the Forbidden city to the north and a mass murderers (Chairman Mao's) mausoleum to the south!  As there wasnt much to do here, we just walked around for about 20 minutes and got the photos required to persuade my parents that we actually did see some stuff and then we sat down and chilled out for a while.  Basically, Tian'anmen Square, for those who dont know is the place where Chinese students protested against the government about twenty years ago (you may have seen the pictures of a bloke standing infront of a tank with his shopping bags).  Little did i know, I managed to sit in some chewing gum while posing for a picture for some chinese people who saw us as celebrities...which compounded my hang over misery!

Later that night, we went for some pizza (about my 50th of the trip to date) and hit the sack early for an anticipated long day of sightseeing the following day.  I was sleeping well until about 2.30am, when i was rudely awoken by the now famous snore-a-tron (an American tosser who slept all the time).  This bloke pounded out the decibels on the snore-o-meter in never seen before quantities.  However, not only was his snoring rediculously loud, it sounded like he was gargling with about a pint of snot.  So not only did it keep you awake, but it also made you want to puke!!

As i couldnt get back to sleep, i decided to go and sit in the beer garden outside for a little while to plan my revenge, only to spend two hours speaking to a really drunk German guy about absolute nonsense (its nice to have someone on the same wavelength after all).  I eventually retired to bed again at about 5am after slamming the door to make sure i woke the snore-a-tron up...it was a success.  Happy days
