Due to my copious sunburn, I got a really shit nights sleep. Met yet more Germans and a Swiss couple at breakfast who invited me to go on a walk with them in the morning. So i tagged along with a tour group and understood absolutely nothing as i dong speak German.
We walked all the way along the beach and got a ski lift up a hill for some good views over the lake and Port Baikal over the water, then went to Lake Baikal museum...what a rip off!! OK, so it was only 3 quid to get in, but when you have next to no russian currency left and there isnt a bank in town, youm would rather buy food than look at crap stuffed fish! The only good thing about this museum was that they had a big tank with two really fat seals in...they were fun for...oh...about 2 minutes.
On the walk back from the museum, i stupidly paid (only 40p) to see some Russian brown bears, thinking they would be in a big enclosure or something. When i entered, i realised they were living in appalling conditions in a indoor cage measuring about 6m x 3m (there were two of them). We were only about 1.5m away from them, but i didnt take any pictures because i was so disgusted. Eco-warrior Kev
Had about 1 quid left until the next day, so i bought 2 litres of water and a loaf of bread and went back to the guesthouse. Spent the night eating bread with tobasco sauce and listening to the I-pod. Im so wild!!
