I climbed a 68m tree!!!

Text written in: English

On the way to Warren National Park we got held up in traffic...cow traffic. There was 10 cows just standing in the middle of the road. We had to wait for them to slowly walk away. Everytime we drove a little forward they ran and then stopped. We got some good pics of cows though.
In Warren National Park we drove on the Heartbreak trail which was so curvy and steep....glad our little Bayswater car could make it. The views of the Karri forest were quite stunning though. There is an Aboriginal myth that talks about a lady who was not allowed to walk upon the land so she made the trees grow really tall so she could touch them. And the reason it rains so much in this area is because as she pets the trees she cries dreaming of Earth. Back in the 1940/50's many of the giant trees were made into climbing trees by creating a twisting ladder around the trunk to the top. The Bicentennial tree was made into a climbing tree in 1988 to commerate 200years of European settlement in Australia. At 68m it is the tallest tree open for climbing but the Karri forest has trees that are >90m.
So we got to the tree and I looked up...it was huge. The so called steps were just metal poles that were sticking out of the tree and twisting around the trunk. It was so freaky climbing it. By the time I made it back down my legs felt like jelly.
