Aswan

Aswan... home of 'Hey Mister, Where You From' & "YES!?!"... Again, everybody is trying to sell something to you. Although, some people are genuinly friendly... i'm adapting myself to try and learn the difference between the two...

This place is nice, mostly. I got here on a overnight train trip from Cairo. Shared a compartment with the Editor from the Buenos Aires Times. He was interesting to talk to. Next morning we arrived into the train station, i was dead tired. Got off and tried to avoid all the people trying to get me to go to their hotel, jump in their taxi, and so on...

Found a nice place. Has a pool. Got a double room for 35 pounds a night (about AU$8)

Went to the tourist information office, and they recommended "Captain Washington", to be found at the Aswan Moon Resturant. Walked around, found a place for lunch... ended up being the Aswan Moon Restuarant. Talked to a sailor guy called Jack who said he Took Mick Malloy & Tony Martin for a Felucca ride... small world.

Anyhow, Jack ends up working for Captain Washington, who, approaches me at the resturant and outlines his 2 day / 2 night Felucca ride on the way to Luxor... sounds OK... but I'm unsure... I get my passport photocopied for him, and hand over 125 Pounds... Jack takes me on a small Felucca ride around to Kitchener Island, where their is some beautiful stuff on the Botannica Gardens, and then around Elephantine Island. 3 Hours later we're back on the shores of Aswan... and Jack has asked me three times how my trip went... all because he explains that i should tip him well if the trip has been good. I'm loosing my patience with him, tell him to stop being so pushy. Blah...

 How will the Felucca trip go... i guess we'll see..
