Fearing that Anat and Gil were bored i decided to bring a little and intensity and drama to our peaceful road trip by forgetting to get more petrol in Cachi. We had less than 1/8th of a tank of petrol when we got to the lookout at the enchanted valley. It was about 60kms to the nearest pertol station and the light was already on.
This was also perhaps the most difficult road that we had driven on yet, it was steep, narrow, dirt and almost void of towns and farms.
However gravity was on our side. Though i hadn´t intended to run out of petrol i was convinced that we would make it to El Carril to buy more before the car stopped. Gil and Anat were less optomistic, it fairness it was getting dark and cold, and the chances weren´t high.
We continued along, and stopped a few times to ask for petrol, the responses we recieved weren´t encouraging.
At one point i think we saw a monkey cross the road. The petrol conserving technique of riding the clutch and only accelerating at the rare up hill sections might have saved us. I wasn´t really concerned, except for one point where the needle suspiciously dropped to below empty for a few minute before going back to the 1/8th marker. Excitement, Excitment, what an adventure, i´m not sure that gil and anat thought it was so funny until the car was safely refilled with petrol. It´s character building.
