Bikes, Canals and Prostitutes

So we made it through the airport, into this crazy city and found ourselves a cheap, safe place to sleep yesterday. It's a maze to find our way around narrow little streets, dodging bicycles and trams, but we've got it figured out for now. After we'd settled into the hostel we went for a stroll and discovered we were less than half a block from the infamous red light district. I've never seen so many sex shops and live sex show signs anywhere, not to mention the window-front prostitutes. It's much warmer than we expected, but that might be a result of coming here straight from rainy Scotland. It makes me wonder how I am going to cope with southern Europe.
