Day trip to Lithuania

Well, tourist information about Lithuania wasn't exactly forthcoming, so we had the choice of visiting either Kaunas, the second city and medieval capital, or Vilnius, the current capital, for the day. Being Us, we decided to do both, and chose to visit Kaunas first.
I managed to spill coffee all over myself before we crossed the border, so I spent the rest of the day with a big brown stain down the front of my yellow trowsers. Nice.
By time we managed to buy a motorway tax disc for Lithuania, and some snacks, and bloody drove there, it was early afternoon.
Kaunas is quite an interesting town, there's an old castle thing, an orthodox church, a pretty mainstreet, and a muddly confluence of two rivers. All in all, a decent place to spend a few hours.
