"I live on the edge of the universe, like everybody else."
This is one of my favourite quotes about living in Wellington. We all live in a peculiar city by any standards (southern most capital in the world, earthquakes, wild storms followed by scorching sunshine, untamed nature bordered by waterblasted orange cobblestones, the home of Lord of the Rings *and* The Frighteners), yet it's just so comfortable that is quickly becomes banal and homely.
I set about with my camera yesterday to show you a bit of our new home. We currently live in the 'alternative' neighbourhood ("Cuba Quarter" is the spin that the City marketing department came up), which is kinda funky. There's a coffee bean roasting outfit round the corner that only uses "fair trade" beans from Cuba, which seems to be a bit of an oxymoron given the human rights standards there. Looking forward to moving up the hill at the end of the month. The photos were mostly taken around the waterfront which links the different and distinct districts of the city together...
