Although Christmas in the southern hemisphere doesn't have the cosiness of candles, carols and snow, it's got a special atmosphere of its own when the whole clan gets together and does some hard-core eating, drinking and relaxing :o)
Present were... My grandma Muriel (Mu), my aunt Diana and uncle Al and their children (my cousins) Stephanie, Alex and Tom. Uncle Jerry and aunty Suk (Suzy), my Dad, aunt Felicity (Flick) and uncle Thubten and their kids (my cousins) Tsering, Dechen and Loden.
Christmas in Sydney is a ritual that pretty much always goes like this:
- having some drinks and getting ready, possibly a swim, Dad usually plays the piano. He's very musical and not really into sports or swimming.
- opening presents
- talking or watching a movie, getting lunch ready
- having lunch once everyone is slightly toasted, the conversation usually starts cordially and then soon everyone is arguing about politics. I love it. Usually there's seafood but not this year
- watching movies or working off lunch with some light exercise
My cousins Alex, Stephy and Tom are growing so fast, it's weird.
The downstairs pool/spa/gym area has recently had some renovations so by popular demand there are lots of snaps of that to show it off too. I didn't get any photos of the movie room but what's the point
