Trip to Florence

Text written in: English

Today we took our first of three class field trips to Florence, a beautiful city of architecture and SHOPPING. Florence has about a million people people and is home to Michaelangelo's David and the Medici Chapel. We started off looking at the San Miniato al Monte, a church built in the 11th century. We then walked through the city to view the Santa Croce Church, where Dante. Machievelli, and Galileo are buried, along with members of the Medici family (a very prominent medievel Florentine family). After a WONDERFUL dinner at an upscale Italian restaurant, a few friends and I took off exploring away from the group. We visited The Medici Chapel and walked up the Bell Tower, 414 steps to the most beautiful view of Florence. We did a little shopping with the street vendors (Florence is famous for its leather) before heading back to Castiglion Fiorentino.
