waking the dead Tamil style....

I forgot to tell about this little custom that happened every so often at Sadhana Forest. Imagine that you are a villager who doesn't have a phone. Your loved one has died...how do you tell the rest of the world? OF COURSE...you bang on something metal every hour or so allllllll night long.

Anyhow....that is a true story that lead to many nights of sleeplessness, but it's over now.

I'm not actually in Madurai, I'm in Kodai-kanal with my friend Torun. We left Auroville and Sadhana Forest for greener pastures and ended up in the hill station of the South which means tourists (read...Israelis) and insanity. But at least it's beautiful, there are trees and mountains!

Anyhow, it's a little crazy in the net place here and I thought you'd rather see some photos so I'll try to put them on now....
