Sunny San Diego

Text written in: English

As it was the end of the trip we hadn't really given much thought as to where to go next but we'd heard good reports about San Diego so we headed there. We weren't disappointed, it was a lovely city and seemed pretty compact compared to the sprawling metropolis of LA.  The public transport was miles better as well and we could whizz round on the metro system for just $5 a day.

San Diego is famous for it's zoo but as it was pretty pricey and likely to be full of kids we gave it a miss.  Other than that, there wasn't loads of attractions in San Diego for us to head towards.  Our favourite bit was Old Town which has been preserved as San Diego was at the start of the 19th century with a strong Mexican influence.  It was a bit touristy but we did eat at a great Mexican restaurant there with some fantastic Mariachi players - enough to make you want to drink some tequilla!
