Seals and not much more

Text written in: English

From Picton we drove down the East Coast to Kaikoura, although we were seriously tempted by the diving we decided that it really is too cold.

Kaikoura is famous for its whale watching tours but we are on a backpackers budget - even if we aren't too good at sticking to it and we did see Orcas on our White Island Trip, that ws amazing an enough for this trip!

We did take a drive out to the peninsula to check out the Fur Seal Colony. It was stunning scenery, the waves crashing on one side and the huge snow topped mountains towering over the otherside. After a walk over some very slippery wet rocks we found out that the only seals were the ones being sensible and taking cover out of the wind up by the carpark! They were really cute though as you can see.
