Kauri Forests

Text written in: English

We decided not to stay another night in Opononi!!!
So we drove south to Dargaville and through the famous Waipoua Kauri Forest. The rain and winds stopped just long enough for us to stop off and see the tallest and oldest Kauri tree in New Zealand - Tane Mahuta and it was only a 5min walk from the highway rather than a weeks tramp! They think it is 2000 years old!

Dargaville was almost a drive through except for a quick stop off to send an email, apparently search parties were being prepared after a lack of contact! It was the most expensive internet yet!!
